How We Be
The Marlins of Lanes 1, 2 and 3
At the pool in Joinville
We are in a watery space
Tonight we celebrate
At Teta and Corky's Place.
We give thanks for the year 2004
And plan to swim for another year more.
To splash and sputter
In the water
With companions true
Is a joy always new.
We share the lane
We never fight
Though blindly we pass
We are polite.
Before the end of the hour
We may utter a moan
But we know
The yards together
We would never do alone.
There are four strokes
That we strive to master
Alas, we rarely go faster.
Some of us compete for ribbons and glory
But for most, that's an old story.
Our goal you see,
Is just to be.
